Whatcha Lookin' to Score at Hamvention?

Everybody's got some stuff they're lookin' to find at Hamvention. Post your list, and maybe one of us Hamsexy folks might have what you're lookin' for. Sure saves time searching around the flea market, and then having to haggle with stinky hams. I'll go first: + Astro Saber Public Safety speaker mic...

Re: Miami Hamfest, Feb 1-2, Miami, FL.

Suggestion #1: Hoveround repair and tune-up table. +1 How about a table with a dummy load, a wattmeter, a signal generator, frequency counter and a high current 12VDC source, etc., complete with someone who both guards the test equipment from walking off and helps test their stuff. Maybe have a hat...

IRLP: SNAFU

The irlp.net website, the irlp.net email system (including installs), and the echo reflector are experiencing problems right now.

Since we don't know what the issue is, there is no ETA on when it will be working again.

Re: Low latency IP Audio streaming for remote base?

Who said IRLP needs to use their boards? :baby: There's nothing that exciting about IRLP boards. Some LEDs, an 8870 for DTMF decoding (which is fed to the parallel port I/O lines), and some logic-level stuff for PTT and Aux outputs from the parallel port I/O lines. The whole damn thing runs off of a...

What ever happened to auxiliary on 2 meters?

I just ID the RoIP radio on 2 meters as a repeater station, to use 2 meters and to cover my rear with regards to "content" repeated.

Re: amplification and p25

As far as I know...

As long as you are using C4FM modulation, it shouldn't be an issue. Class C works.

Now, if you're driving an amplifier into compression, than you might have some issues. Wowbagger, speaketh!

I use DES-OFB on almost a daily basis. Sounds just like regular IMBE, too! I used to use XL, but it sounded so windy and grainy that I couldn't stand listening to it for too long. What are you going on about? DES-XL over P25 suffers no noticeable loss in audio quality. If it sounded grainy, you wer...

The County Sheriff here wants to move to the MARCS system. Hmm.

Give up lowband simplex for 800 trunking.

Given the terrain in the area (hilly), it'd be better to stay with lowband simplex, but what do I know.

No one ever uses it though. Maybe because it's a quarter wave on a cookie sheet?

Maybe I'll remember this week on Wednesday.
