Hah! Motorola reuse chargers for different model lines.. they are not in the business of saving you money mate, they are in the business of selling radios and accessories, and maximizing profit.

Re: FRIENDS DON't LET FRIENDS BUY YAESU

Ah. well I've got a Yaesu FT-897D and get nothing but great audio reports on the air, yes the learning curve on the rig is high, like most Yaesu's I have used, but when you spend the time and get to know the rig and its operation, its really quite intuitive.

Re: 857d or icom 706 mkIIg

Suppose it depends if you want a standard built in DSP vs an add on in the 706, you'll certainly pay more for the 706Mk2 G; if your into AM the 706 will put 40 watts out, compared to the Yaesu's 25. TBH I can only go by my 897, the 857s bigger brother, but I too had to choose between the two, I am p...

I should add that I'll be retaining my callsign. No change. Congrats on the AG dude, I got mine on April 13th at the Beacon NY hamfest; just got my rig a few days ago, having fun getting acquainted with the initial complexities of the rig. I even got to foam on non ham bands -- OT alert: last night...

Meh, I still maintain my old VX-7RB was a POS, but even so I just got an 897D, from everything I read here and other places its a very highly regarded rig for its class, if I had the $$ I would have gone for the Icom 756 Pro III tho *drool*.

For anyone going i'll be on the regular HS/BL channels.. BW1 BW2 BAT1. Beacon isn't a terrible affair, there's usually some pretty good stuff if you get there early enough to beat the vultures.

Does anyone have a:

* K split AS3 Srec
* UHF R Split AS3 Srec?
