Re: What's a good price for an EFJ 5100 w/P25 + crypto
It would say 5100ES on the front label, the older ones just say 5100. The cable is a standard XTS3000 cable and the software is available through EFJ dealers. Awesome. Well there you go its a standard 5100 with crypto. I guess I'l just shove it on the for sale section and see how it flies. Really d...

It's the full keypad / model 3. Can't remember the exact model but its not the latest.
I dont have any way of reading the radio right now but i can throw in the programming lead and software is probably available from EFJ :)

What's a good price for an EFJ 5100 w/P25 + crypto
As above really. I have an EFJ 5100 handheld with P25 and crypto up to AES256 IIRC. It's not FPP though. I believe I paid around $700 for it at Dayton in 2008 from a HS member. It's now surplus to requirements unfortunately. It comes with a few (3 or 4) batteries, and a VHF antenna. I could throw in...

Yeah I just found that out.
I set Ch1 to 433.700 and Ch16 to 433.700, but had to name them 1 + 2.
Ho hum.
Still, can't complain. :D Nice radios.

Re: TRBO Scan mode PL problem
Eh, I found it. It's under the scan options IIRC. Although since posting the original thread, I found out it's quite useful to have no PL when scanning when in a different area - the freqs are still valid, and it lets you hear traffic you would otherwise need to program a channel for. I gotta say, T...

TRBO Scan mode PL problem
Ok. Probably I'm missing something obvious here, but when in scan mode, my DP3400 (the non display model handheld) ignores my PL on certain channels and works in CSQ mode instead. Annoying. I've had a look in scan, general settings and also on the channel page (I still want to call it conventional p...

Remote cable, high-power power cable, and mounting tray included? He should knock off at least $75 if they're not. I *think* they are. I will check - he's currently in the process of upgrading them... If I can do without the DES-XL boards he will knock $35 off each... I'm still debating that point.

He's quoted me $400 after firmware and host/dsp upgrades... Hoping I can beat him down (and hoping he isn't watching this thread ).

Upgrading Astro Spectra's
I might get my hands on some Astro Spectras. These are Q split W9's, with a basic host/dsp and a simple p25 conventional flash.
What is involved in uplifting the host/dsp? I believe I can upgrade the flash with an S-rec (?) myself but IIRC the host/dsp thing is a bit more tricky??

Thanks Dan.
Surprising they came from London, but if they were used I actually have a good idea who they originated from (Her Majesty's Government).
I don't mind paying shipping from the US, although it would be pretty hefty I imagine. But maybe I'll get lucky and find a UK source.
David.

P25 repeaters
What do you guys do, just scour eBay and 'the labs for quantars(?) ?
I wouldn't mind playing with making a repeater out of a couple of mobile radios (the method over on batlabs) but ideally i'd want something made for the job.
How much would I be looking to shell out for a secondhand P25 repeater?
