Re: Why The XTS 5000
however the control channel is 3400bps. 3600, you mean.. I hope. If it were me, I'd be glad I had analog as an option, assuming they're allowing new analog subscribers. Indiana's SAFE-T system has the best deal. The state footed the bill on infrastructure, and any qualified local government user in...

Well hey, some people make it their life mission to lecture people that "baud" and "bps" aren't the same thing ;) Until Motorola starts calling it 9600bps instead of 9600baud, that's what I'll call it too. Some people say pounds and inches are the same too, but it doesn't make them correct. And the...

On a side note...ICOMs D-Star expansion board for the hammy portables and the P25 expansion board for the commercial portables "appear" to be of the same layout and size. I wonder how hard it would be to hax0r the D-Star ROS and put a P25 board in a 91D and have P25 hammy rig??? Just thinking waaay...

Yep, that'll work just fine. I highly suggest you program up an entire zone (16 chans) all the same with your talkgroup, and stick the "scan" members from 17-xx so you can't manually access them. You may still add them to the scan-list in CPS no problem. The same problem presented itself to me when...

I don't have any links Shaun, but Terry isn't talking shit here. The data side of dstar is getting some serious interest. I would have to echo this point. Several counties in Northern VA have applied for and recieved grants for among other thing a full on D-Star repeater ste-up (144, 440, 1.2GHz, 2...

Damn, that's funny... several states have purchased DSTAR infrastructure on grant. A demonstration locally of data (low-speed and high-speed) has been done for FEMA bigwigs, who are considering a large purchase. Oh, and the feds have largely backed off on this "everything-must-be-P25-for-grants" st...

APCO-25 is an identified standard. DSTAR may be somewhat mainstream in Asia, but it's kind of useless in North America unless you're one of the types who has already forked over the cash for DSTAR gear and wants something to whine about :P Hammy rigs have wideband receive. Many hams use their hammy...

So my bass walks in my office this morning and says, we need to upgrade the hammy repeater for them. I say "OK' He wants to know if there is such an animal as a P25 2m repeater that will also pass non dig traffic. I think the answer is yes. Anyone have insight? Anyone knoe of an ema that sponsers a ...

Years ago my family drove from Windsor, Ontario to Disneyworld. The first night on the road we stopped in Chattanooga. The next morning at breakfast my mom had a heck of a time getting a cup of HOT tea. The waitress couldn't quite figure it out. Your country rents florida for the winter I believe :...

Gosh darnit... and I do SO enjoy tea. Yeah what is it with you Americans drinking tea COLD ffs? I knew someone who lived in Virginia (or was it West Virginia?) who would drink iced tea constantly... I live on Iced Tea. I brew a gallon per day. (I never drink soda or coffee) I enjoy a cuppa also, bu...
