Not much in practice.
Different max power limits (not an issue on a portable), no forced narrowband for RTTE, and they supposedly need that "cyclic keying" power ramp up/ramp down function turned on in Motorola gear.

That's because the TRBO radios they showed pictures of in the paper are TRBO radios :baby: C4FM mentioned in isolation means absolutely nothing at all . There's a lot more to any digital voice signal than the modulation scheme. They said in the paper that they're coming up with their own homebrew th...

That's pretty common with most stuff you buy there, even in supermarkets etc.

NXDN Mixed mode repeater ftw Any P25 repeater will do mixed-mode too. If the Detroit guys were naive enough to make theirs P25-only well, that's their misfortune. ASTRO only is a good thing. Around here there's tons of repeaters hardly anyone uses anyway, and with mixed mode you get old farts who d...

The only thing you miss out on as far as I can tell with not officially having IPSC in the subscriber is Roaming, where Motorola took Voting Scan, gave it a new name and pretended it was new. If you don't use it anyway, it's no big deal.

Also, can D-STAR send encrypted credit card numbers from a remote terminal over the air back to the main box which is interfaced to a merchant gateway? You can write citations with D-STAR?

Re: P25 repeaters
Uh, SDR still requires a great deal of hardware engineering. You don't just program the radio to tx from 30MHz to 900Mhz and off you go. While you probably know that, your post seems to imply it's just writing some code. Couldn't be further from the truth. Actually, with JTRS (Joint Tactical Radio ...
