In another 5 years or so I can see ASK's being a major obstacle for us M nerds, once these new radios start hitting ebay or government surplus, we arnt going to be able to manipulate the programming in these radios at, like the APX radios for example that will only program with ASK's, legacy system ...

No, the system key is an actual computer file, that has to be in a certain folder on your computer, that your CPS looks for.... or alternatively, depending on how new the system is, it could be an Advanced System Key required, which is an actual hardware dongle that has to be connected to the comput...

I don't know what it really is then, but I changed the programming to SmartZone and still no dice...i'll ask Todd over on BL, he's more then likely the one who set it up...

Turned out to be a problem with the interconnect and not seating properly, tried reseating it a few times (a bunch actually) and it worked...

Srec took as well, and all is working 100%

Nick, what host/dsp firmware is in your 800 saber? Have a secure module installed? What firmware version is the module? Try disabling the module and reprogramming the codeplug. I have a 599108-1C5E00 codeplug I'll send. PM your email to me. Can't remember off the top of my head, but its DSP/Host 7i...

Honestly, I think if it came down to it, I'd give up and not listen at all as opposed to trying to use a scanner, the ruggedness isn't the main thing for me, its the absolute SHITTY audio I detest...

Say I have a legit RID and my own talkgroup for my business on a 3600 baud SZOL system, I affiliatewith my RID, lock onto a site, on my talkgroup, then enable scan which includes talkgroups I don't necessarily want to affiliate on, will talkgroup audio come through then?

Okay, heres another scenario...

Say I have an XTS2500 flashed for 3600 baud trunking, any provisions there for scanning without affiliating? or will the radio still want to successfully affiliate before it unmutes like with 9600 baud systems?

by that I mean SmartZone, MDC, ect..and all the fancy stuff I may never use...Omnilink preferred, but I can survive without...

and something I can load and edit with RSS, I don't have any of teh-fancy astro CPS...
