Re: Flex 1500

Like I said, it does most of the things that I want it to do. At the end of the day I figured it was easier to scrounge around my collection of junked computers and build one from many. So, Vista will remain my desktop OS for the time being. The Flex box is a dual boot system, XP Pro for the Flex an...

Re: Flex 1500

I have to share the response I got from one of the locals in reference to my 'review,' followed by my reply. Tom, I hope you didn't think I would let your "review" of the Flex1500 go without a comment! "not ready for prime time." Now I think you mean it isn't like sliding the sty...

Flex 1500

In short, it's not ready for prime time. I've had it for a week now and it's already slated for a return trip to the factory for repair. The first issue was setting it up to work on my desktop. Vista is not a good OS to use with the Flex 1500. I spent a couple hours trying to make it all work togeth...

I organized one of those last year...and am doing so again this year. List it with the ARRL and they will send you a box of books to give away. Also take a look at the Scott, N3FJP's AClog website, he'll donate a $39 software package to hamfests that expect 100 or more hams to show up.

There is a FAQ on the Yaesu website about cranking the output on the 817 and they say: Can I turn up the transmit power on my FT-817 to 10 Watts? Don't even think about it. While the transistors may be capable of putting out more power, everything else about the transceiver--the bias, the voltage ra...

Echolink via DSL Help needed.

Anyone familiar with setting up Echolink to work through an ADSL connection and a D-Link router? The ADSL modem is Netopia if that makes a difference. I tried to open the correct ports the other day but misconfigured something as I'm still unable to make a connection to Echolink.
