Re: Obligatory HamCom Plano thread (10-11 JUN)

A 900 on top of B of A? *nod* *nod* Will have to program that up and try it. hmmm. 442.400+ 110.9 if its not busy. Its on the big hill so has good coverage. Also need to set a time for dinner. Unless it has been set and I don't have enough caf in the system yet to parse the thread properly. -b-

Unfortunately, I won't be making Hamcom or the dinner this year, too many folks taking summer vacations at work right now.

Maybe next go around.

Any of your guys have a Kenwoody TS-480? It has some remote base capabilities that may do what you want.

Nah, MO, you just have the suicidal tow truck whackers. Pretty much have to be to work your kind of traffic though. Saw on the Tavern this morning that apparently Timmay has gone to a lawyer to get his "stolen" shirt back from the Lucas fire chief. Um, good luck with that. All I hope is th...

Re: HAM-COM 2009 - June 12 & 13 - Plano, TX

Thought I had tornado #2 of the year, and the chaser of a 70 mph blast of wind out of the squall was pretty intense. Way too much rain too. I did learn that the Whelen Vortexes do in fact make enough noise to be heard in such conditions. Haven't seen it blow or rain like that since the hurricanes of...

Re: HAM-COM 2009 - June 12 & 13 - Plano, TX

Finger memory == great loss. My club (DCARA) is the one that has the 443.525+ machine, using 118.8. Good repeater but little use unfortunately. The NT5NT 443.325+ PL 110.9 repeater is still nice and sensitive. Just barely have to touch the PTT on the MT2000 and it opens right up like it did before a...

I'm working days now, so won't make Hamcom but should be able to make dinner like last year. >1900 works best for me as I can't escape 0rk until after that. I suppose the usual Bone Daddys with everyone meeting up on NT5NT 443.525+ 110.9? Will watch the thread for something different. -b-

Cowtown is indeed 2 years old. Not too many of us Denton peeps went last year due to some outstanding political issues with the hosts. Here's why Dave switched. A given Fedora release has a much shorter release "half-life" (where you can get package updates) than Centos. Anything older than FC6 has no package updates any longer. Updates are important when you are exposing services to the Big Bad h4x0r filled intertubes. O...

The low-speed serial iinterface presented to your computer is selectable at 4800 or 9600 bps, N81 on a DB9. The pinout for the required serial cable to Mini-DIN can be found here: http://cobalt.n5zpr.com/dstar2.html The only yucky things about it is that there is NO error correction (like tvsjr said...

Looks like most of the hamsexyness was outside this year. I was roaming around quite a bit inside mostly. Tried to be low-key so I didn't end up on the front page myself. I agree, it pretty much sucked this year. Too many piles of junk, and no good deals at all to be found on new stuff. Heck, some o...

I'd assume you're using *, correct?

If you are, look for providers that support IAX (Inter Asterisk eXchange) as that makes it MUCH easier to work with.

Also, avoid Broadvoice. I've heard nothing but bad about them. Support is non-existent and it's easier to cancel AOL than them.
