Satellite Uplinking

Ok fellahs, i have seen while cruising the boards that you can link your laptop through or via XM satellite. So heres my question

1. What interfaces if any do i need
2. Is there specific software i need?

Wed. Night Net

I would love to attend the Wed net, but as far as i know, the only echolink Repeater in Aurora is exclusive access only. I might be wrong...its been known to happen. how hard is it to set up my own Echolink node?

alright guys i am confused, I live in Ø Land (Denver) and we have one 900 Mhz repeater, what is the difference between astro, apco25, digital and trunking? i would love to get further into radios but i do not have anyone to explain or guide me in the ways of radio.
