Re: p25, trbo, or dstar. what to do..?
Don't let the look of the Icom D Star IC92AD fool you. I would say it's more rugged than an XTS5K-R due to its smaller size and weight but equally dense construction. The thing is just a solid little brick and the battery seems to last forever. The RF performance is excellent and is every bit as sen...

Re: A little help for an astro n00b
I can't vouch for its effect on trunking since it's Vhf but I have a host 9 dsp 12 5k and it works fine.

Re: DV Dongle
D Star is neat stuff and is great for what it's meant for. It has some neat hammy friendly features like scrolling ID info on the screen and such. I don't see how it and P25 can really be compared against each other in any real meaningful way since the P25 isn't meant as a consumer electronics plug ...

Re: IC-92AD and OFs
I've only had it a few hours and have only listened but so far it's great. I got it due to the begging of a friend that got one and kept saying how great it was. After checking into the features I tend to agree. They really seemed to put some thought in to all of this. The audio quality is great. It...

IC-92AD and OFs
My shiny new IC-92AD showed up in the mail today and I just did get time to fire it up tonight.

Re: P25 repeaters
I was looking at the exact same thing. I almost contacted them but I figured I would get that same response. It's too bad everyone has to act it's 1944 and they hold the plans to the Manhattan Project. BTW, not that anyone cares but I did get the maxtracs to pass nice clean fairly unmolested P-25 da...

Re: P25 repeaters
Hmmmm.... well I tried the welfare maxtrac to maxtrac flat audio setup over at batlabs. No joy. I figured that a matched maxtrac would perform even better than this old King mobile but no. I tried every devation adjustment step between 13-35 with no sucess. As usual the PSR500 decodes most anything ...

Re: P25 repeaters
My welfare P25 repeater is slowly taking shape. :vestman: :wacker: So far it sounds great but it's still on the bench with no duplexer and exiter power. I modded (sorry Ken if you're reading this) a friend's Communications Specialists community repeater controller to pass good clean flat audio. A re...

Get er done!
That's kind of what I was trying to do with the hardware here.
Where would a person get the specs for the protocol, enough to do something like that?

Re: P25 repeaters
I'm still looking at the idea of two astros for a repeater. I'm becoming more and more convinced that it can't really be done, (correctly anyway) and be true mixed mode. True, there is the discriminator to modulator method (maxtrac style) but I wanted to see if there was a way to link the two after ...

S Records for Vhf IMBE needed
Doing some repeater projects today and I wonder if anyone can send some HI and Low power Vhf IMBE S records. I really don't care what the flash or head type is as long as it's IMBE and VHF. If you guys could help that would be great.
Thanks

You could get a pair of HT1250s with Transcrypt inverstion boards for that price. Ours ran in the $600-700 range for the portables and damn near the same for each MO-80 Transcrypt board. Yea, the 1250s don't have the best reputation but it sounds like you are in the same boat we were in. We had some...

I have two of em mainly for the signal stalker or whatever you call it. I hate the squelch. There's not padding there at all. They go in to a wild squelch flutter attack at the edge of a signal fade and the overall RX sensitivity doesn't seem that hot to me. But, for the $$ and features they are sti...

I had to dig for it but I found it. It's a T3020AX instruction manual but it has a theory of operation, parts list, and full schematics. I made on using a B/K LPU handheld as the transmitter and an HT600 as the receiver. It worked but getting the modulation exactly right was damn near impossible. I never would settle down to a point I could trust it all to be shoved in a box together. But, when it was tuned up right it sounded great....
