Re: Upgrading Astro Spectra's

Upgrading the Host/DSP needs an SRIB (AFAIK anyway) but doing a flash upgrade can be much much easier. If you get an S-Record with the flash that you want then it is just a matter of changing the serial in the S-Record... taking down the tuning values of the radio... writing the S-Record, reinsert y...

agreed Probably more than that... Although I think you'd get a better welcome here than at batlabs. +1 Batlabs has become very very elitist. If you aren't in the circle... you are worthless. Either way, its a website.. and some of the administration takes it WAY too seriously. And who have been the...

P25 Article in Sept '08 QST

Pretty good "quickie" of an article as an intro to using a P25 radio for amateur use written by Mike Kionka. This site also got a nod near the end of the article and the "place to go" for information on the Moto P25 stuff.

Anyone else get a read on it?

Sussex and Beacon generally go until about 4 or so... I am not much of a morning person, so getting up uber early for a fest that peters off around lunchtime is usually counter productive to my disposition. :baby:

We'll see. I may take a ride down.

Re: 857d or icom 706 mkIIg

The 706 is a decent radio for sure, but a lot of the menus and digging for the menu options can be a little intimidating at times. Also... the 706 is not MARS friendly either. It'll modify and transmit... but the moment you get outside of the ham bands the power output falls off sharply. To the poin...
