all of our 800s do it, including XTS3000s and non plus astro spectras. i hadnt noticed on the astro25 VHF/UHFs.

the legacy V/U radios do NOT do it with the same firmware, only the 800s. I have noticed on the astro25, it started with 7.x firmware, but i am not sure of the exact number.

Hey shaun, one thing that is useful for 800 radios, is when put in test mode via the side buttons, the normal BEEEP is replaced with a chirp. We use it here to test model 1s that come back from mexico... beep means we firmware uplift it, chirp means its cool this chirp as you know, indicates rebandi...

if icom would make their dstars repeaters mixed mode, i think you would see alot more of them on the air. That seems like a HUGE oversight on their part.

my buddy has one of those, he needs a new mic because of that stupid "mount to the head" thing.. then again, im not a big fan of the telephone connectors for mics.

seriously though, i was listening to my buddies talk astro last nite on the repeater and astro was clear as a bell, when they went to analog, the radio didnt even bother to unmute, the signal was so weak. whats so amazing about that you ask? i was using my XTS on the rubber duck antenna in the house...

no, you need a repeater capable of ASTRO, ie Quantar/Quantro.
