The quintessiential flashlight... also handy for use as a hammer, tool, chock, or impact weapon. Streamlight Fire Vulcan for lots'o'light on fi...

You could get to it by IP... otherwise, with no DNS server, how's it going to know to make things appear in Network Neighborhood? That's done by running a WINS client, which ...

Bonus points for OFB? :baby: I don't have a goddamn keyloader yet. :OSS: But yeah, I'll be IMBE on BW1 in the car and analog portable. AEGIS is digital voice, the forerunner to ProVoice. Like Provoice and P25, AEGIS can be encrypted but isn't automatically encrypted.

The voice quality is shit, however. Save up for an XTS!

Very cool. Any ideas on price yet?

Also, Kenwood released their TK-5170 VHF P25 mobile this week, with UHF to follow shortly. Damn reasonable prices (under $2K for advanced remote head, with programming software).

Don't believe everything you hear. Hamcom will not be held at ACC next year - that part's correct. Your "why" is wrong. The City of Arlington has preference (read: can bump events) on scheduling for the ACC. They came up with something that they wanted the convention center for, so Hamcom ...

Got any clue what us normal people could buy a DPH for? $1100 is pretty cheap! APCO25 is a standard - no royalties. *BUT*, APCO25 specifies the IMBE (improved multiband excitation) audio codec, which is owned by DVSI (Digital Voice Systems Inc.) You do have to pay royalties to them. Of course, Icom ...

While I realize it is not possible to upgrade any of the radio features, what about secure boards? Will these radios support different/more advanced (AES) encryption boards? The trouble is, unless you're batdude (grumble... bar code reader), you can't keyload an AES crypto board easily. KVL3000 wit...
