To add to what r0f has said - here is the P25 trianing manual. Very informative and goes into quite a bit of depth.

XTS2500 Type I UCM support

Just having a poke around the schematics in the XTS2500 service manual, and on the UCM connector there are pins in there that are labelled "Type I only" I was under the impression the XTS2500 wasn't capable of type I crypto - but from all the references in the service manual this appears t...

Exactly - and whats the other option anyway? Use a scanner? Thats not going to help either...

The only solution to that one is to affiliate - and no one here is that silly.

....Keep in mind what we're trying to accomplish here is pretty simple. ... Yes, I agree with this - but if you think its as simple as soldering a few wires from your COM port to to your radio and writing a bit of software to fire some characters out that port then you are kidding yourself.. No off...

I do. They're available for sale through the TIA website for a cost.

Still doesn't give you any real clues on the hardware design though.

mr.syntrx and myself have done some work already in this area - what wowbagger has said is correct. We have given up on Advanced Securenet protocol (ASN) as its proprietary and very difficult to obtain the specs. P25 (aka CKR mode) is much easier to obtain the specs for. I'm mostly a software guy so...

And soon to be AES-256.
I would love to do the same, however, KVL3k+'s and XTS3000 AES modules are rare as buggery :cheeseandwhine:

Nice work r0f.

One thing - XTS3k firmware 7.22.01 will work with the new LCD's (as tested by myself and KB9KST) The guide says 7.23.00 is needed. Interestingly the FSB/SRN says 7.23.00 is needed but actual testing shows the /\/\ supplied info to be wrong.

Yeah, kind of..

I suspect its from the Hong Kong mail service. As we know, that seller is Panter88 from Hong Kong - HK was part of British Empire and was a British colony until about 1999-2000 or so. Plus the DXI-XL algo kinda supports they were for export (either UK or HK - who knows!)

Mmm.. You raise a good point there Seth - I can't find the PayPal transaction either.. I put up a post in the "Booth money" thread stating that I had sent a small donation, but from looking through the records, I actually haven't.. so I apologise for that one.. my mistake entirely.. (Until...

Seth - I'll go through my paypal and find the transaction ID. As for the for sale section, I PM'd one of the two moderators that look after that area - I wasn't aware that I had to email the info.

Thanks for addressing this..

Ive spent many hours pondering how this was done - the ans wer I keep coming up with is there is a hacking tool that has been leaked/developed for the ASTRO25 line that isn't commonly available.

Now that you mention that - I wonder if this would work in an ASTRO saber? The firmware should work but the display only has 2 lines :baby:

Nice find r0f. I'd hazard a guess and say that firmware .xx is just a port from the XTS2k5/5k line which is why theres so many similarities :)

Good to see you online again ;)
