I carry an XTS5000 because it gets women hot for me. They're like, "OOOOOHHHHHH, Look at the Motorola XTS5000R model 3 radio with FPP" and then their panties just fall to the ground.

True story.

If you have the generic hirose cable (TKN8531) then you're all set. You might be able to find a used one cheaper. I recall a guy on batlabs from Norway tried to make his own adapter and threw in the towel when he found out the hirose plug was like $40.

Biggest problem with LAPD is the signal going to shit and the audio chopping up. They are all very tinny too. I will concede that part of the problem is the idiots do not know how to use their radio properly and like to hold it horizontally when they are talking. And there are alot of asians with no...

Yes, patrol officers are still issued AS3s. So are detectives, sergeants, captains, lieutenants etc. The joke about the 5k on the meter maid has nothing to do with LA. ICIS is a digital trunking system used by many of the fiefdoms, errrr smaller cities, that surround Los Angeles. They don't have as ...

I am asking a question. How can a DSP process a signal with limited intelligible data? It's called forward error correction. If some of the data is missing, the codec uses algorithms (kind of like a RAID array on a server) to reconstruct the missing data. This is why ASTRO works so great in weak si...
