Hey Rof, an idea for you to add....

How about a short explaination of what the revisions of CPS numbers represent.

R09.00.03

Hey shaun, one thing that is useful for 800 radios, is when put in test mode via the side buttons, the normal BEEEP is replaced with a chirp. We use it here to test model 1s that come back from mexico... beep means we firmware uplift it, chirp means its cool

this chirp as you know, indicates rebanding capable firmware, and on a legit radio ONLY does it on 800/RB

I have heard of a UHF that does it, but i suspect the radio was hacked at some point.

all of our 800s do it, including XTS3000s and non plus astro spectras. i hadnt noticed on the astro25 VHF/UHFs.

the legacy V/U radios do NOT do it with the same firmware, only the 800s. I have noticed on the astro25, it started with 7.x firmware, but i am not sure of the exact number.

If you want another non-technical proof reader let me know. (PM ftw).

I'm a pedantic bastard and I'm good at spotting typos and spelnig mistaks.

Wait. Physical activity?

WTF? What kind of respectable ham are you???

If you had said, "ate a box of donuts while showing off my new vest"... that's one thing! But *exercise*????

:vestman: :vestman: :vestman:

(Oh and Shawn, if you want to send me a copy, I'll proof it for grammar and style for you.)

Have I told you, lately, that I love you?

I was considering doing some "brain surgery" on a couple eBay radios, but wasn't exactly sure what to expect(I don't have a service manual...on the off chance any useful information is even in there). That would be awesome to have in the guide. From the pictures I've seen the Astro Saber vocon flash seems to be plain old parallel flash, but I can't see the part numbers clear enough to figure out voltage levels, etc.

Yeah - Ive tried PMing mods a few times for various things and get no answer.. I donated for the Dayton stand, PM'd to let them know, never got a reply or any thanks. PMd to get access to the FS section, again no answer.

Mr. r0f,

I have lurked, and haven't said anything, but from the teasers, I can't wait for the guide to come out! I am gonna be in the market for an XTS5000 soon, and I can't wait to see everything in your guide.

Keep up the good work!

This has zero to do with this thread. However I will adress it.

What paypal address did you send to? If I missed it, I'll double check and you will receive a public apology.

As to the forsale section, did you email me all the required info?

Seth - I'll go through my paypal and find the transaction ID. As for the for sale section, I PM'd one of the two moderators that look after that area - I wasn't aware that I had to email the info.

Thanks for addressing this..

Mmm..

You raise a good point there Seth - I can't find the PayPal transaction either.. I put up a post in the "Booth money" thread stating that I had sent a small donation, but from looking through the records, I actually haven't.. so I apologise for that one.. my mistake entirely.. (Until I checked I could've sworn I sent a couple of bucks..)

As for the FS section, I did PM a moerator, but I haven't sent any of the required details.

Cheers,
Matt
