Fort Wayne Indiana Hamfest November 13/14 2010

Post by webdoc »

The 2010 Fort Wayne Hamfest & Computer Expo and the 2010 Indiana State A.R.R.L. Convention will be held on November 13th and 14th at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and Exposition Center, located at 4000 Parnell Avenue in Fort Wayne (at the corner of Parnell and Coliseum Blvd).

This is usually a decent hamfest. I'm planning on attending again this year, probably won't be buying much, more to see some friends. In the last few years I have seen an increasing ammount of Motorola gear including a XTS5000 III which I believe was a 900 Mhz radio. Had it been a VHF I would have picked it up myself.

This will be my 4th time at Ft. Wayne. R&L, MFJ, sometimes Yaesu and a bunch of ARRL big shots come. It is the best one around here.It is also the Indiana ARRL convention. Hope to see you there even tho I have no idea what you look like.

One of the blind people there was Bob WD8PIC, a hell of a nice guy and a lot of fun to talk to on the radio. I actually got to meet him face to face (so to speak since I could see him, but he couldn't see me) on Saturday.

Was he the guy with the dog? I saw a blind woman going around the tables by herself. It's tough enough getting around there when you can see.

No, he had a human guide, a fellow ham. He would walk behind his guide with his hand on his guides shoulder.
