Gaithersburg Hamfest (FARFest 2006)

Post by ka8ypy »

All right, I’m starting early (80 days from now)

49th Annual F.A.R.Fest (Gaithersburg) Hamfest

Saturday September 9 and Sunday September 10, 2006

Montgomery County Agricultural Center (Fairgrounds)
16 Chestnut St, Gaithersburg, MD

450+ tailgate spots, 70+ air conditioned vendor tables (with the ability to have a total of about 250)

Gates open at 0600 both days; Building opens at 0800 both days, until 1600 on Saturday and 1400 on Sunday.

Vendor tables are $30 for 1-5 tables and $28 for 6 or more if reserved and paid for by August 5, 2006, $35 for 1-5 tables and $33 for 6 or more after August 5, 2006.

Tailgate tickets are good for both days and include one (1) space approximately 10’ X 20” and one (1) admission good for both days. $18 per space/ticket before August 5, $20 after August 5 or at the gate.

General admission is $6 at the gate per day. Two day ticket can be purchased in advance only, for $10 and must be ordered/paid for by August 5, 2006.

Send me an e-mail if you want tickets.

Can any other hamsexual actually say they are in charge of a Hamfest?

Can any other hamsexual boast that they have other hamsexuals lined up to put a kick ass AM station on the air as the special event station again? (Thanks to John/W3JN)

Any and all ideas will be entertained, please stay tuned to this thread for more information and updates.

I have antenna, and repeater. I'll buy some feedline before then too.

What i will need it a tripod, or something with a mast to get the antehha way up there.

MAybe access to 120v for a ps? or someone can briong some marine batteries?

Plan early, plan right.

AC power and mast are taken care of...No problem....30, 40, or 50 feet?

Hell, I'll bring all three kits and see how high we can go.

Just verified with John Creel (for those of you local that know him)

VE testing by the Laurel VE team on Sunday starting at 0900, sign in at 0800 at the Hilton across the street from the fairgrounds.

This is for those on here that don't have their licenses or knows someone that wants to get theirs.

How much feedline do you need? I've got some 1/2' Heliax and LMR600 kicking around. I could bring it with me in early August, too, to save shipping.
And the sign says you got to have a membership card to get inside.

Oh damnit, I forgot your LMR600. If I can find a box big enough to hold it, I'll get it in the mail.

Don't worry about it, we have access to 500' of LMR-240, and will go larger if it presents itself.

For the hamsexy get together, yes.

For the hamfest, as Seth said, give me another year to build it. This is our third year back at Gaithersburg after being at two different locations the five years before that.

Any questions...Let me know since I be the boss of da show..

You're both fools for turning down free LMR600, but okay. I think I'll waste it on a CB antenna or something..

If you wanna ship it that bad, we'll take it. Just trying to save you the postage and hassle of shipping it.

Local are Hilton (group rate mention FARFest), Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, all within 3-4 blocks.

Within 5 miles there is everything hilton, marriott, holiday inn, hojo, staybridge suites, and too many others to list.

anything in particular Kit??

Then use Gaithersburg, MD as a starting reference.

Other possibilites are Germantown, MD and Rockville, MD.

That pretty much covers the entire populated length of I-270 in Montgomery County MD. All within about 5-10 minutes from the hamfest.

BTW, hamfest location is about 15-20 minutes from Mongolian BBQ. I believe this were we are going to set up shop for the east coast bash Saturday night the 9th.
