It's only 30 miles from home, so I really need to take the day off and go.

That's a Hamfest? I thought it was a gun show.
If nothing comes up I'll probably go.
Hamsexy is like peeing your pants.
Everyone can see it but only you feel its true warmth.
But then you get old and pee in your pants while wizzing around in you hamabout.

Why would you think it's a gunshow?

I'd love to go when the gunshows are there.

Of course now that it's C&E instead of the NCGCA running the shows, they will be more like a hamfest than a gunshow (beanie babies, junk, etc)

:soap:

I have only made one charlotte & two shelbys since I moved back to this area. Concidering that I'm 30 miles (charlotte) and 20 miles (shelby) and I rarely get to them, make me feel a little bad.

Knowing that I get OT on the weekends, not so bad :baby:

They just had one, if they had both, it'd be great.

Last Year the gun show was next door and it reminded me of my younger days seeing all those people carrying guns, open in the parking lot. It was like gun porn.
The low ceiling of the boneyard was probably what got on most peoples nerves. Too much like being in Wal-Mart at Christmas!

Hey Brad, If you need wingman I'm armed with camera and some mini bottles! Meet ya at the Hardees.

This might be the last year at this location, a church bought the merchandise mart. It's a lot better location for gunshows than the crappy metroline expo center.

All of the locals were clogged up on 145.350 as I was driving home this morning.

P.S. I hope you guys left me something to buy tomorrow :baby:

Hamfests are never going to be "like they used to be", so you might as well make the most of it. Where else can you find the little stuff locally? Ordering a $3 part online for $6, then having shipping on top of that is a waste to me.

Besides, I haven't been to a stinkfest for several years :not worthy:

Well, ok, but the're ain't even the little stuff at this one. Most of the stuff I've heard on the local repeaters say this was the greatest thing since pockets, but I went thru in about 2 hours and then did another couple of laps. The dealer area is about a half to a third full. Bunch of empty tables in the flea market area.

dunno, this was my first time back in about 3 - 4 years, and not only did I find it smaller than ever, but also found nothing of any value. A couple of ifr service monitors that the guy wanted way too much for. 6 sabers in a gang charger, some waris M stuff, a few tools that you had to wait forever for someone to take your money 'cause the locals were busy chatting.

Got almost run over a couple of dozen times by the OF intent on staying their course, but for me it was a bust. Most of the locals say that the flea mkt will be about a third of what it was today, as most said they weren't staying.

what the hell, I'm wrong about everything else in ham radio, fuck it, you should probably go!

I already have the time away from work, so I have nothing else to do. If I had to drive a long way I'd probably be pissed too, but it's a local drive to me.

So when you talk about the locals, I'll be one of them :baby: :baby: :baby:

Picked up a pair of beater 136-150 Sabers (guy said they were missing something, but I forgot what :baby: ) that had good knobs & switches. One had a JBRO battery that was bad (assumed it was gonna be) but the other had a NTN4596DR /\/\ battery that holds a real good charge.
