What choices for new 220 radios?

Post by Mong » Fri Jan 19, 2007 8:33 pm

Just looking at straight FM HTs & mobiles, not SSB.

Alinco has a 220 HT & mobile

ADI used to sell a 220 mobile, and they had a HT made from their commerical line. sp they could be found maybe NOS

VX7R does it low power

Icom ?

Kenwood has their tri bander that does full power 220 (well, as full power as an HT can be :baby: )

Am I missing anything?

The Alinco works really well... I've had one for 3 years.
Q: What is red and orange and looks good on a politician?

"Yea we eat grits in South Carolina, so what? You fools here eat that Skyline Chili junk. I'll keep the grits..."

Another vote for the Alinco...They are the only manufacturer currently producing and selling a mobile rig.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen commrade

I had a factory 220 GP300 at one time but sold it because I never used it.

Looking to get back into it (of course) and I'm really digging the Alinco DJ-296.

The problem is, since our region is the only one that has 1.25m privileges manufacturers of said gear are few.

Bravo to Alinco for maintaining a presence. :ham:
