External DTMF for handheld?

Are there any external DTMF dialers available to be used with a handheld that doesn't have DTMF?

Many years ago Radio Shack sold a DTMF encoder about the size of a deck of cards.

I've bought one off ebay, we'll see how it goes. I was told to try using the keypad of a mobile phone, but it doesn't seem loud enough. I'll give that a go too.
