which is better for repeater interconnection

Post by webdoc »

we are looking into setting up either an echolink or IRLP node.

In fact I have already built the machine and have Redhat Linux installed to setup IRLP, but we (at the EMA/EOC) are still debating which would work better. We might end up doing both with IRLP directly connected and echolink with a remote connection.

Any comments or suggestions?

Why not put both IRLP and Echolink on the same node? It is called EchoIRLP and it can run and share resources with IRLP on the same computer. They both just chug away until one gets called it to service either locally or through an incoming call and the other gets disabled. IRLP node 2410 has been running this way for over 2 years now with no issues, works great.

They call it PMS because Mad Cow Disease was already taken.

Node 4304 will be switched to the repeater that is in the backend of my apartment as soon as my landlord (N9RJZ) puts the new repeater controller in.

The node is currently running on a simplex frequency but I haven't used it yet.
