*sigh*

reviewing a previous post by me... so therefore just reiterating here, the Astro Spectra Plus has 4mb of memory.

The one I have here has host 9.00.00 and DSP9.00.00.

It was done via legitimate iButton/Motorola firmware refreshing. Host 9 supports rebanding and analog-trunking ID. Like Host R7.71 for the XTS3k and the Astro Saber, it's possible that this may be the final revision for AS+.

Ok thanks Josh :)

BTW if I get the encryption modules, can I get these babies flashed for ADP/software encryption??

I read its a feature of Astro25 products, and a quick google search mentioned the Spectra Plus and ADP in the same context.

Horse mouth information would be nice though.

I would presume as long as the radio had the software based ADP option enabled in the flashcode, that it would function on the AS+ just as with any other Astro25 radio.

Remember, ADP is its own encryption protocol, just like AES, DES, and DVP. If you want to use it, your "target audience" also has to be using ADP.

But if both my spectras were ADP sexy, then they'd be secure "back to back"?

Also keep in mind that there is no ADP option for a regular Astro Spectra. It's only available on the Astro25 platform.

So in the future, you'd be limited to talking "secure" to only other astro25 users, so even if you have a group who gets some astro spectras for cheap, it looks like you'd have to "downgrade' your radios to another type of encryption to talk to them (if encryption is that important).

Ok well I got my spectra plus's for $275 each and a discount on shipping.

They came programmed, with power leads and mics + speakers... all brand new acessories.

Got a surprise when I checked them out in the service menu, one of them is just a regular astro spectra, not a plus. No big deal really.

Second surprise was KEY FAIL :baby: Yeah I got lucky and they're all DES-OFB and XL sexy. I think the crypto makes up for the fact the third one isn't a Plus tbh.

I just have to decide which one I want to keep - this was a group buy with two of my mates. The only difference between the plus's and the none plus is the flashcode and the fact the plus gives me more channels?

Host/DSP on the non-plus is bang up to date and the plus's are 6/6 (which i think is good enough for astro25 platform??)

So I dunno I don't think there's much in it?
