Ham-Com 2010 in Plano, TX
So who's going? I'll be there Saturday for sure. I would also like to propose a change in the dinner venue. Perhaps Twin Peaks?

Re: Ham-Com 2010 in Plano, TX
I'll be there as usual with my indoor tables.
I'm game for Twin Peaks, but it may be pretty crowded with stereotypical hams due to its proximity. I remember seeing a lot of antennas in the parking lot last year.

I'll be there, possibly with local goons in tow and possibly with a truck/trailer to cart off large Decibel antennas. Or I'll just show off the new/old Caprice wackermobile, whatever works.
I enjoy Bone Daddy's for the fine eatins' and for tradition, but I'll go along with whatever the locals decide on.

Nay, it is still in the body shop getting a shiny new coat of paint. But fear not, good things lie in store.va3wxm wrote:You ball mount that bitch yet?motorola_otaku wrote:Or I'll just show off the new/old Caprice wackermobile, whatever works.

Re: Ham-Com 2010 in Plano, TX
Just confirmed today: I am all systems go with one local goon along for the ride.. heading up on Friday, there bright and early on Saturday. No wackermobile to show off, though, we're bringing a truck.
I'm actually up here right now for other things and I noticed that our old home on 443.325 is not doing so well, so we might want to pick out a new HS-friendly talk-in repeater for Saturday night.

Crap. Well it has come to my attention that I will not be able to attend this year as I have another obligation on Saturday and I have to work on Friday. See y'all in 2011!

Re: Ham-Com 2010 in Plano, TX
My local goon friend has decided to grab another friend of ours and head up at the asscrack of dawn on Friday to do both days. I'll only be there for Saturday. We'll be on BW1 (146.495, PL 67.0/NAC 293) and Batlabs Green (151.88, DPL 143/NAC 293). N5LUY will have his temp repeater up again on 441.525, no tone, butting heads with Rockwall.
So that makes me plus 2 for dinner on Saturday. With Scott the lone dissenter now being absentee is everyone cool with Bone Daddy's? I'd like to do it at 7:00 versus our usual time of 7:30 or 8:00 so us Houstonians can hit the road Saturday night.

I don't think a key is needed if everyone would just move to P25 Phase 2...

Pffft. Yah, who's buying me an APX? You Mark?
Speaking of which, crazy Larry will be buzzing around my table showing off his V/U APX while I continue to pull my hair out mastering its CPS. I have a couple Moto-phile buddies who are interested in dinner but they already have plans for Saturday so their RSVP is TBD ATT.
Sorry we'll miss you Scott, catch you next time. Craig, where you been? We mention food and you appear.
VX will be on BW1

No APX for me, I think Moto dropped the ball on the APX. I hear rumors of several Harris Unity X100's (V/U/7/8) running around.Victor Xray wrote:Pffft. Yah, who's buying me an APX? You Mark?

Saturday as far as what has been mentioned. If enough locals wanted to, they could meet Friday I guess but who wants to see that much of each other?

Is Jeff going to be there or did he send you some toys? I noticed he reappeared on the batboard; is he a bigwig with Harris now or what?mam1081 wrote:No APX for me, I think Moto dropped the ball on the APX. I hear rumors of several Harris Unity X100's (V/U/7/8) running around.

Unfortunately, I won't be making Hamcom or the dinner this year, too many folks taking summer vacations at work right now.
Maybe next go around.

Re: Ham-Com 2010 in Plano, TX
Sorry to hear that, Brent. The only reason I'm getting to bug out at noon today is I finally got some help in my department.
On that note, I'll probably be incommunicado until tomorrow morning. If anyone who hasn't spoken up yet wants in on dinner, stop by Jon's table and let him know, then I'll get a head count from him and make the call. So far I have:
-me +2
-Jon (VX)
-Mark (mam1081)
-kv5e (tentative)
-special guest, possibly midget lover
-Rick (rdwilson)

Re: Ham-Com 2010 in Plano, TX
Victor Xray's new girlfriend on the left. I think she might have even been a licensed ham.
Wacking in Texas. Multiband portable pr0nz courtesy of Crazy Larry and mam1081.
Obligatory dinner group shot. I need some help IDing kv5e's friends before I front-page it.. Louis, WB4BMB in the green shirt is no stranger to us down here in H-town but the other two gents weren't introduced. rdwilson and kv5e's YLs are on the end, respectively (yeah, I know, women at a Hamsexy event.. blows the mind), and Mong is back in the corner.
Other than that, there wasn't much worth shooting unless you like seeing the same depressing pics of hordes of obese, middle-aged fashion-challenged male hams. Thanks to VX for his donation of a 10/100 Ethernet switch, and yes, Mong is quite the charming socialite.

Re: Ham-Com 2010 in Plano, TX
Please forgive my barbaric lack of manners for not introducing, Jerry Lutgring W5JRL on the far left, and Mike Chittenden AE5IV broadcast engineer supremo to the right of Louis. Both of these with whackertastic G*dflashed XTS5K bricks.
Speaking of bricks......better get a Sam Brown if you are going to wear THREE Astr0S@bers with your narrow @$$ at the HAMCOM!!!!!!
Notables at the Hamfest included an EMERGENCY 10-33 switch transmission on VHF P25, and a NIKE Battery Alert with authorization for release of air burst nukes! My My MY......the whackerisms just keep on coming!
No annealed and case-hardened bromodrosis was experienced until the final body press for the end of fest prizes.
Great time at dinner and looking forward to the next get-together.

Re: Ham-Com 2010 in Plano, TX
Thanks for chasing her down Josh. I needed to see that pair again today.
Last night I had nightmares about Mong's idea for a restaurant and what his wait staff would look like.
Mike's handle on Batlabs is Microwave Mike. He is astro-sexy too but I think he prefers the big black Johnsons.
