Obligatory HamCom Plano thread (10-11 JUN)
So yes, this is the place where plans are hatched and pictures are posted.
Unfortunately A-Kon falls on the same weekend this year so I will only be around for a few hours on Saturday morning and I can't do dinner unless we do it on Friday night. However, for those few hours on Saturday I will (should) be running a multiband cross-patch from my spiffy new -tastic Tahoe with a portable full-duplex 440 repeater in the mix.. you always wanted to know what P25 on BW1 sounded like coming from a 220 HT1250, right? The full frequency complement will be posted later when I get everything assembled and tested.
Anyway, discuss among yourselves and we'll see what comes to pass when that time rolls around.

Will be there, inside table as usual, Fri and Sat. Fri evening dinner sounds good to me, unless I gotta run the Dad taxi at home. Should know for sure the week before.
There's nothing more permanent than a temporary solution.

I'll try my best to make the Friday night dinner, have to see about work (wherever the hell I'll be working then).

Well, weekend after anyway. You'll be dining alone if you show up this Friday.Mong wrote:Time flies, didn't realize it is next weekend. I'll take off work Friday evening so I can attend dinner, might bring my gal with me as well. Will know for sure next week.
Is anyone in the area using 441.625 for a wide-area repeater? If not I'll have a temp repeater up there with a 103.5 tone.

Thanks, I remembered it was around the corner from MicroCenter but the name escaped me. I'll be able to be at the fest Friday and dinner that night. If there is an analog 2mtr frequency ya'll be listening to in mixed mode, let me know.

I always keep 146.495 loaded in mixed-mode receive.. unlike some people. You should have it in your Systems Saber.Mong wrote:If there is an analog 2mtr frequency ya'll be listening to in mixed mode, let me know.
Carrollton is far enough away that I don't care as long as it's an actual back-yard machine and not a high-site flamethrower like .525 in Rockwall. Besides, I'm only getting, what, 8W past the duplexer? (10W GR1225)
Tentative list for the rest of the system is:
146.495 (Analog 67.0 transmit, analog PL & NAC 293 receive)
223.45 CSQ
927.5125 156.7

I'm not familiar with any such repeater. However, the best-coverage machine on 900 is now on top of the green building on 927.0625 DPL 432. Incredible coverage but sadly, almost never used.
Nevertheless, we certainly do need to agree on a 2m or 70cm repeater for when we're not within HT range of each other.

A 900 on top of B of A? *nod* *nod* Will have to program that up and try it.
hmmm. 442.400+ 110.9 if its not busy. Its on the big hill so has good coverage.
Also need to set a time for dinner. Unless it has been set and I don't have
enough caf in the system yet to parse the thread properly.

No no no, those are the simplex frequencies I will have linked together from my truck on-site. Full duplex on 441.625, simplex on everything else.n0xmz wrote:?motorola_otaku wrote:927.5125 156.7

I thought someone had said 7:00 PM for dinner, but apparently not.. so instead I nominate 8:00 PM if that's cool with everyone since it's less in the middle of the dinner rush and farther from evening rush hour. I will not be at the 'fest at all on Friday so someone else will need to call and reserve us a table.
Does MAY know that we're still nominating his repeater for the Hamsexy talk-in?

8 pm works for me. I can make the reservation but I'll need a head count. So far we have myself, Victor Xray, Otaku, Mong x2, kv5e x 2, rdwilson x2 & kd5wyu. That's 10 so far, unless I miscounted.

Re: Obligatory HamCom Plano thread (10-11 JUN)
The repeater should be accessible by an HT from within Plano Center. 442.400 is in Cedar Hill but I was surprised to see that I could key it on the HT in my apartment. 'Course, Cedar Hill is premium real estate for repeaters. Perhaps I'll make a run out to Plano Center this week and test some repeaters.

Re: Obligatory HamCom Plano thread (10-11 JUN)
Well I tested the above-mentioned Carrollton and Cedar Hill machines with an HT from inside my car at Plano Center. I couldn't bring either of them up with 2 watts. However, the Richardson machine on 442.800 110.9 worked well.

No dice on having 146.495 in the link system unless I can beg/borrow/steal a short Saber battery off someone. M backordered mine 'till the middle of the month.

How short? I have a Multiplier 1100mah NiCad (can't remember what the model number). It's not the super-short battery like the LiIons.

Re: Obligatory HamCom Plano thread (10-11 JUN)
No, that will work. I have two of them but they're both so dead that even sitting in the SVA the radio won't turn on.. but it's a moot point since I can't get the interop gateway to behave. Jeff is probably laughing at me right now for buying a Link-Comm product.Mong wrote:How short? I have a Multiplier 1100mah NiCad (can't remember what the model number). I might swing by the 'fest early Friday morning since I'll be in Richardson tonight and I can't check into the A-Kon hotel until mid-afternoon Friday anyway. Will be listening on 146.495 and 151.88 mix-mode.

Re: Obligatory HamCom Plano thread (10-11 JUN)
So do we have a consensus on the repeater? If no one else chimes in, I'll declare a dictatorship and say we use Richardson's 442.800 110.9 for dinner coordination/regular BS outside of simplex range.
I'll reserve a table for 10 at Bonedaddy's for 8pm. If anyone I have not mentioned in my previous post plans to attend, please post it here as I'll be checking this thread throughout the day.
See all you mo-fos tomorrow.
