ASTRO Ham Band Repeaters (NATIONWIDE LIST)

Post by batdude »

Please keep this going - but only post if you are either the owner or a user of a particular repeater.... try to keep the speculation to a minimum.

I'll start.

444.625 mixed mode NAC 293/PL118.8, Quantro @ 792ft, 200w, Kingsland, Ga (KC5BMJ) (this machine is IRLP Node 7640)

147.315 mixed mode NAC 293/PL127.3, Quantar @ 500ft, 65w, East Jacksonville, Fl (KC5BMJ)

444.275 mixed mode NAC 293/PL127.3, Quantro @ 500ft, 200w, Jacksonville, Fl (W4COJ)

147.210 mixed mode NAC 293/PL127.3, Quantar @ 100ft (testing) Jacksonville, Fl(W4COJ) (not yet at it's permanent home @ 490ft west side jacksonville)

that's four astro repeaters in about a 200 square mile radius here in the southeast.... and NO - there is no motorola plant near here.
XTS 5000 Option Q52, available to authorized goverment users only, allows front panel programmability of your XTS 5000 VHF portable radio...........

Mixed mode QUANTAR at 100 plus watts into the duplexer. Official NAC is 293.

You can add the 146.925 to the list. It is located in Down town Miami at 810' it works in dual mode format the NAC is 293 and the pl is 94.8.. The repeater covers dade and most of broward on a portable. And into west palm on a mobile.

That one is actually VSELP. Not sure why DWP did it that way but no one really uses it.

Not to sound overly :xls: , but is VSELP even legal on the :ham: bands?

And as listed elsewhere, a neatly done list.

Yeah, I saw that link on the Yahoo group. Both of the P25 machines in CA are in the LA area. I've chatted with a couple of the local commercial guys that are also hams, and they're really meh about it. If I can somehow find a Quantar for cheap, I'll probably put one up locally for the truly geeky to play with.

If you're up in the Barrie/Collingwood area then you'll have coverage on VA3IMB on 147.2850Mhz (156.7hz/NAC 293) but that's generally from Newmarket and above with a mobile.

With the number of guys in the Toronto area with P25 gear, I'm surprised nobody has bothered yet.

There is a P25 UHF repeater on the air in the Toronto area, and I have heard rumors of a VHF one coming online soon...

and yea, anything further south than Newmarket and your SOL for IMB, on a good day, you can hit IMB with a portable from Newmarket.

This P25 repeater has been history for over 2 years now. The repeater was sold to a local club (yes, stupid on my part).
As soon as the club took ownership, one particular ol bastard started complaining that he could not hear any
id's from the P25 users. He, of course, was on analog. Hard to believe this guy is an educated
person, actually an engineer. He runs PSK31 on HF all the time - I can't hear him ID there, WTF...

Mancow heard this guy in action while talking to me. We pulled the P25 enabled SCM out
of the Quantar and swapped it out for an analog-only module. No more digital for anyone to bitch about
on the "015" now.

I have a P25 Quantro going online in a week or so (hopefully). It is currently running in test mode at the
Missouri Highway Patrol Troop-A radio shop. 444.450 will be the freq PL151.4 mixed mode with NAC 293......

A couple of updates:

The 147.2850Mhz machine in Edgar is now linked to the 444.450Mhz machine in Toronto.

There's a VHF machine in Toronto on 146.610Mhz.

There's a Quantar up in Berkely on 145.290Mhz (south of Owen Sound).

The guys in Carlisle have put up a repeater which passes all digital on 146.715Mhz (near Hamilton).

If any of you should be unfortunate enough to find yourselves in southeast Houston/Harris County you now have a place to play P25 on: 443.375, 103.5 PL / NAC 293. P25 is local repeat-only but the analog side is linked to several other local repeaters and tied to AllStar hub 27146. Eventual plans (read: as soon as I pony up the $$$) are to convert another very high-profile 2-meter repeater to P25 mixed mode and add P25 receive capability to the AllStar link.
And the sign says you got to have a membership card to get inside.
