We could all get together and make fun of each other and then have a rumble just like in "West Side Story"!!!N5DUX wrote:oh my word.

Sweet. I'll set up a temp base in the room and see if I can make some Hotel Sierra contacts. I'll also be on 462.575 pl 69.3 if anyone cares to venture up there.KE5CQF wrote:motorola_otaku wrote:What are the Hamsexy freqs gonna be? I'll most likely bring a VHF/UHF station and set a magmount on a cookie sheet in the window sill of my hotel room, so i think it'll work fine. If not, just pick a repeater.motorola_otaku wrote: I'll set up a temp base in the room and see if I can make some Hotel Sierra contacts. This is why HamCom kicks Hamvention's ass: 119 hours of workshops and forums-
Ham-Com 2005 will be held June 3-5 at the Arlington, TX Convention
Center.
The event will host the West Gulf Division Convention and other special
programs.
Grand prizes are an ICOM IC-706 MkII G and a Yaesu FT-857. The online
registration prize is an Alinco DR-620T dual band VHF/UHF mobile
transceiver. Over 30 door prizes will be drawn and awarded every hour
while the exhibit hall is open.
The three-day event has over 119 hours of high-quality speakers,
workshops and forums.
The Ham-Com Board of Directors and the staff have worked hard to ensure
that every area of Amateur Radio is represented at Ham-Com 2005.
The Lone Star DX Association has put together an incredible program and
is providing this year's keynote speaker, Charles Harpole, K4VUD.
Charles was an eyewitness to the the post-tsunami Amateur Radio relief
communication effort on Andaman Island in the Indian ocean in December
2004. His address is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.
There will be a special celebrity "roast" of ARRL President, Jim
Haynie, W5JBP on Saturday, June 4, at 5:00 p.m. The emcee will be Bob
Heil, K9EID. His tormentors will include Riley "the Enforcer"
Hollingsworth, K4ZDH, and other well-known Amateur Radio personalities.
Donations in honor of Jim's service to the ARRL and the Amateur Radio
community to benefit the "Big Project" are requested as you enter the
event.
Spotlight areas include youth education and EmComm. There is a special
one-day Radio Merit badge program for Boy Scouts (our second year for
this innovative program), a Weather merit badge workshop and several
special programs for Girl Scouts working on their Communications and
Weather patches. The National Weather Service will provide basic and
advanced SKYWARN school on Sunday, June 5 beginning at 1:00 p.m. They
are also providing other special interest programs during Ham-Com 2005
including a new youth program entitled "Weather Situation Awareness for
Kids."
Other new programs for Ham-Com include:
- "Collectible" QSLs for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts courtesy of
Lone Star DX Association, Texas Radio Lighthouse Society, and others.
- Planned rebroadcast of selected speakers and workshops via our new
Internet web site.
General admission purchasers (online or at the event) will receive a
$2.00-off coupon from Shell Oil. The coupon provides a discount on
Shell's new "v-Power" blend and can be redeemed at ten (10) locations
around the Arlington Convention center. Shell is also providing ten
(10) $25.00 gift cards as hourly drawing prizes. Admission and DX
luncheon tickets (through May 27, 2005--none available day of event!)
can be purchased online. You can also find information about hotels,
RV parking, restaurants and area attractions via our new web site. The
Outdoor and Indoor flea markets are filling up but space is still
available. Visit http://www.hamcom.org/ to purchase your space online
today!
The commercial section is full again this year and several new vendors
have been added. The event also features a new product gallery. Each
item on display in the gallery will be awarded as a door prize during
the event.
For complete event information, visit http://www.hamcom.org/ and
download the "Ham-Com Flyer." The 42 page full-color Acrobat PDF file
has a complete schedule of events, block schedule and presenter
biographies. Selected sections of the flyer including layouts for the
Outdoor Flea Market, Indoor Flea Market, Commercial Exhibitors, Lone
Star DX Association block schedule, program list, block schedule and
speaker biographies are also available individually for quick
downloading and printing. Please join the Ham-Com mailing list by
signing up at the web site. It's the only way you can receive e-mail
about the event! Be sure to check the web site for the latest
information BEFORE you come to the event and the posted schedule in the
registration area when you arrive.

I will be there Friday and part of Saturday. Have to be in Tulsa for family Saturday night. Don't you hate it when family intrudes on ham stuff :whiner: . Friday night, I'll be staying at the Wingate hotel across the street from Hamcom, unless I go to a bar.
I live in my own little world. . .It's OK, they know me here.

Starting tomorrow
Ham-Com 2005 is almost here. If anyone is passing through Dallas, I'll pay your admission (1 person) for a ride to the event and back to Dallas afterward (same day) or gas money if you already have a ticket. I can take the area train system to downtown Dallas, DFW airport, and even Ft. Worth, but Arlington seems somewhat proud of the fact that they're the largest city in the nation without a public transportation system. qrzmoderator [I get my license back next year, and before you ask - no I didn't lose it due to DWI]. I plan to take the Morse test and element 3 so I can get the general. I also plan to check out the swap meet and whatever else happens to be going on while I'm there. Any help getting there would be greatly appreciated.

Yup, I'll be there.
Stop by my table in the indoor flea market, I've got lots of Moto gear this year. I doubt I'll be monitoring the Hamsexy/Batlabs freqs, but I'll be around if I'm not at the table.
Tvsjr & I will have our cameras ready - It'll be good to see some local wackers on the Hamsexy homepage.

Ham-Com or bust
Is there anyone who wouldn'tmind giving a guy a ride to Ham-Com? I'll buy your admission, or lunch, gas.... getting desperate here. I'm in Dallas - not too far away. I could take the train to DFW airport and meet someone there. Is there anyone that could lend a hand to a fellow ham?

Nick
I am here. Will have my radio on shortly. 146.495 pl 88.5 someone mentioned earlier. Unless there is interference, I will be encode only so I can hear anyone calling. I will be using a VX-2R (a whole whopping one watt yikes ), so you will have to be close. I'm on the South side 3rd floor of the Wingate, or in the parking lot playing with the radio in the truck.
