FYI folks,
The Fedora Legacy Project is shutting down. This will mean that all
Fedora nodes won't have security updates via yum, probably effective
relatively immediately.
While it's no cause for panic, taking some time to upgrade to CentOS for
those that have the hardware that can handle it, probably is an even
better idea now, than it was when the IRLP Project first converted to it.
Most nodes are configured in such a way that not having security updates
available to us, isn't going to be much of a problem, but I thought the
IRLP community should know that Fedora Legacy is closing their doors...
No cause for alarm, just keep it in mind for planning purposes. If
you've been "thinking" about upgrading to CentOS, this might be the
"last straw" that might convince some node owners that running Fedora
isn't a good idea any longer.

I think you may be confusing two different things. The Fedora Legacy project was the project for Fedora before Redhat became involved. It has shut down, because of....wb4bsd wrote:FYI folks,

The Fedora Project is a fully sponsered project by RedHat, and is and will remain active, as this is where all the development for RedHat Enterprise Edition goes on. There are still plenty of updates for Fedora going on.
Now, if you don't update from, say, Fedora 4 to Fedora 7 you are going to stop getting updates - this is no different than saying that if you don't update from Win95 you won't get updates. The difference, however, is that an update from FC(n) to FC(n+1) is free (save only the cost of downloading the new image).

Absolutly under no circumstances download from this link. That is the bas CentOS OS from RedHat, and does not have the IRLP software included.k3who wrote:You can download it here I think...

Note! I did not write the article about Fedora shutting down. i simply copied and pasted it. You get the drift of what the article was getting at.
