If you're up in the Barrie/Collingwood area then you'll have coverage on VA3IMB on 147.2850Mhz (156.7hz/NAC 293) but that's generally from Newmarket and above with a mobile.

With the number of guys in the Toronto area with P25 gear, I'm surprised nobody has bothered yet.

In Ontario, there is only a handful of people who have an Astro digital capable radio, who are amateurs, most if not all of them already have encryption modules in their radios, and finally most of them also know someone with a key loader.

I'm an Astro guy, but I have started to get interested in DStar, if the price dropped and there were more DStar repeaters on the air (right now we're tied 1 for 1 with Astro and DStar repeaters) I would probably take a leap and get one to try.

Thats the situation with any newer radio system, it needs to be run like similar to a computer network, than a phone system, It needs to be regularly updated, and properly maintained by people who know what they are doing. Most of what I have seen is contracted out maintenance which just has enough ...

Honestly, I think if it came down to it, I'd give up and not listen at all as opposed to trying to use a scanner, the ruggedness isn't the main thing for me, its the absolute SHITTY audio I detest...

Digital, but after using it for over a year, I've come to love it, and cringe when ever I have to use analog, sure the occasional analog conversation here and there happens on some ham repeaters, but nowadays I try and stay on the ...
