This may have been posted elsewhere, but has anyone heard of the OP25 project and the use of
the RTL2832 for use as a software defined receiver for P25?
Neat stuff..

FYI, the 2832 dongles can be had on Ebay for around 20.00 (US)

As far as I know , the answer would be no. I have had a strange thing happen with a AS3 I had once. It had a DES-XL module in it. I had infinite key retention enabled but never, ever loaded a key in the radio. One day after swapping batterys I somehow got the conentric switch flipped to secure and t...

I'm puzzled by the fact that an agency like the RCMP can't or won't update the firmware in their radios?? What exactly is the deal with them? Do they just occasionally buy radios, issue them and then forget about them until they die? I would think if there was any agency that would have the funds av...

This has been an ongoing saga for several years. I thought at one point that they actually went back to operating strictly analog due to all the problems. Are the patrol officers still using AS3's? What would the meter maid be using the 5K, they should be upgrading patrol divisions to the 5K and han...

Re: Passively scanning Astro25 trunking systems
Firstly, please no bullshit, save it for someone who gives a damn..I am asking a purely technical question for the sake of curiousity... The province here has finally put out thier Request for proposals on a new radio system... The system is going to be trunked, P25 compliant, which I assume they m...

I'm too lazy to go looking it up (see I admit it) but do those need the model specific RSS, or will they program up with the US flavor RSS of the corresponding model? Depends on the radio. If one knows what they are doing with a registry then they can get most of the Euro Pro series stuff to read a...

Yeah, kind of.. I suspect its from the Hong Kong mail service. As we know, that seller is Panter88 from Hong Kong - HK was part of British Empire and was a British colony until about 1999-2000 or so. Plus the DXI-XL algo kinda supports they were for export (either UK or HK - who knows!) Cheers, Mat...

Well its not a problem, just wondered if its normal. I have two vertical lines of dots that are missing on my display. Instead of a full letter, I have one dot-width missing, it just displays blank.... it's at opposite ends of the display (the Y in SYS on the left and the R in PWR)... but it goes t...
