Yeah, duh, brainfart. Anyway, they ARE using CQPSK...motorola_otaku wrote:Austin/TC? I thought they used CQPSK on the two simulcast systems and C4FM on the IR sites.tvsjr wrote:Didn't go with CQPSK? All of the Moto P25 gear supports it... I know of at least one system that uses it for their outlier IRs. ???

I'd rather see P25 Phase II use OFDM rather than the current FM nonsense. You could get 30kbps without much trouble, high spectrum efficiency, and it'd be as robust as hell. Yes, and it would require class AB amplifiers for the finals, would piss off about 50% of the PA input as heat and reduce bat...

The feds are also very interested in the IVD aspect (integrated voice and data)... imagine doing building assessments following a tornado, and every transmission coming back having latitude and longitude right along with the voice? Makes all the mapping a whole lot easier. P25 does that with bells ...

Did I mention that I had access to the *first* D-STAR system in the United States outside of Icom's hands? One of the local hams made inroads with them... they had DSTAR on the air about, oh, two years ago. CDMA data for cell providers is great - unless a natural disaster has wiped out your infrastr...

Ray - thanks for the info, though I'm not sure how much of this is actually directly targeted at the whore flashes or how much is simply a result of remapping the codeplug (as tends to happen with each major version release). Escomm, thanks for being a giant dick and earning this thread the lock. St...

So let me see if i understand this right... I buy a XTS3000 with a low flash on the codeplug read from the radio, i can get another codeplug from the same model radio with a newer flash and blow it into my radio and the features from that flash will now be in my radio? The flashport features (flash...

OK, I've cleaned up this thread at Shaun's request. Here's the deal: 1. TECHNICAL DISCUSSIONS ONLY. In general, you shouldn't be saying anything about anyone in here. Only one place I know of around here sells it, and it's down in freaking Rosharon . Seriously. Biggest city in the entire state, and I gotta drive 20 miles to get it. I'm indifferent about BJs... it was pretty good food, but fooking expensive. I think VX is correct about Twin Peaks. Bone Daddy's wouldn't be bad... what else is in the area? Far enough away to evade the Hamsexy OMF (that's old man funk for you n00bs) would be good. Hamsexy comms on VHF only for me....

COM-120 isn't bad... 2975 isn't bad either. Neither is as intuitive as the 8921 - in the case of the 2975, that's largely due to many more available options. A friend of mine has used a COM-120B for years and is fairly pleased with it. Here's a big test: a friend, who had never used a service monito...
