Seriously though, when you create a new subforum you have the option to copy permissions from an existing forum. Just set that to one of the previous Dayton forums and you're golden.

Oh yeah, and I will not be there again this year, although (hopefully) due to improved employment circumstances.
And the sign says you got to have a membership card to get inside.

I love how all of the posts just went through and now it just looks like a thread full of whiny bitches...

I'm hoping to be there this year. Was going to go last year, but I got a promotion the week before so I needed to be here at home. Hopefully the same thing happens this year but I already got the weekend off, so promotions be damned. Really just dependent upon the money/tax refund situation this year.

Main hurdle right now is lodging. Looking to share costs with someone for a room at the Drury (no bed sharing...). I want to arrive Thursday night and leave Sunday, but I'm flexible.

I'll be there this year with the same group of five guys (six or seven this year most likely) from all over North America that went last year. We're doing the same thing as last year: renting a couple kabins at the KOA in Brookville, eating Waffle House in the mornings, and enjoying ample quantities of whiskey, scotch, and beer around a campfire in the evenings. The only difference is we've organized ourselves into a formal club, the Whiskey Lovers Amateur Radio Club (WD1CKS). :baby:

Oh, I should add that if the FCC lowers the VE requirements from three to two, myself and another WD1CKS member plan to hold a public exam session that weekend. Yes, there's a good chance that alcohol will be available for those who take exams. :baby: I'll throw up a thread with more details if the FCC changes its rules in our favor.

What are these odds of this occurring? Should I be studying? Where should I be watching for updates? What kind of whiskey will you have?

If the FCC reduces the requisite VE number then it's highly likely to occur. The last round of comments on the proposed rule change (reply comments) closes on January 22nd, and I expect the official yay or nay will come shortly thereafter. I'll start a new thread with details if it's a go. As far as whiskey goes I'll likely bring an Oban, not sure what age yet. I suspect there will be a number of Laphoroaigs there. Beyond that I'm not sure.

There is a group of about 6 of us from the Virginia Tech club (a mix of current VT students and deranged alumni alike) that will be at KOA this year. I will be one of them. At least one of them is a VE, maybe more...

You do realize that the LARC VE holds free testing session on Friday and Saturday, and for those that passed a license exam for the first time, their license and callsign will be posted on Saturday.
