A few years back we had a guy who was on oxygen & smoked... ended up burning the hell out of his face from his cigarette, but still refused to give up the smokes. We eventually had to take him into protective custody before he totally burned himself up.

There is legal precedence for this type of case in which the forum owners and moderators have lost and if he wanted to sue you, he has the money and connections.
It also does not seem funny since this person would not waste his time explaining or defending himself and is terminal and dying of Cancer.

Since you were Speaking of Military experience, I have 9 years in Service to this great country where opinions are shared without censure… I Worked at "Site R" as a Telecommunications Station Controller and used, modified, rewrote sever technical manuals on numerous cutting edge unique technologies that keep our country safe, and used lots of cool technology as well.

I also do not have 25 posts but it is with great authority, and that authority is knowledge and patience that I voice my opinion.

So what if I or anyone else only answered 35 questions or 90 and passed a code test of 5 or 13 or 23 that does not matter at all. I also have spent time with this man and have learned a great many things from him, but I can tell by your post the difference between you and him is that that man spent years in R&D developing and nurturing communications. As far the the legal precendent, you would be incorrect. I refer you to Dimeo v. Tucker Max, heard in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Barrett v. Rosenthal, heard in the California Supreme Court, and many others... all of which affirm that owners of a website or web forum can NOT be held liable for the posts of other people.

Before you attack Dan too much, I'd suggest doing a bit of research on his amateur endeavors. He's partially responsible for bringing quite a few new hams into the fray, and I know he's helped out several hams both here and in his hometown with equipment and information. He's done his fair share for the amateur community.
