It will still be held on Labor Day weekend, this year in Dallas NC (just north of Gastonia in Gaston County) at a location that should be pretty darn good. It will be easier to get to than the old location in Cleveland County, off of I-85 take exit 17 (US321) north a few miles and it's roughly behind gaston collage. Several fast food joints within a half mile of the place for easy hamabout access.


For those looking for camping space, they are not sure if it will be available yet, but the Gaston Correctional Center is right next door :baby:

I got a little more info at a meeting last night, and it's really looking up for the hamfest.

There is a large building where the new dealers will be setup. The official talk-in repeater will probably change to the 147.120 in Gaston County as both of the Shelby clubs repeater have a sorta of RF hole around where the hamfest will be. Of course there is always the 145.350 that is good for at least 100 miles in all directions on most days.

I'm not sure what the lead in times are for the print ads (SERA journal, etc) but they are working as fast as they can to get things figured out. After taking a quick look at it, I know this facility will be a lot better than the Cleveland County fairgrounds.

My girlfriends dad runs a little hole in the wall store called the CDA has great livermush sandwiches. well worth the drive from dallas to gastonia

It was announced last night that the Shelby club has signed a five year contract to hold their annual hamfest in Dallas NC.

Actually, Gaston Correctional Center is minimum security. Lincoln is medium security. Yeah, I'm no fun at all :baby:

Anyway, I know I will be there that morning and I am going to try hard to make sure I don't go to work at 3pm, and something a little better like 7 or 11pm. Doubt I will go back Sunday even though it is only a ten minute drive since they moved.


If anyone wants to do a lunch, I can see what might be good in Gastonia or we can always try a local place. I know a place in western Lincoln County that sells bacon and cheese wrapped deep fried hot dogs. That'll put anyone into an early grave quicker than a cold bottle of toilet duck.

They will still use the 146.880 repeater for those coming into the area, but since the shelby club's 88 sucks chicken balls in Dallas they are joining up with one of the Gastonia clubs and also using the 147.120 repeater for talk in.


I doubt you guys will get lost as even a retard can get there with the posted directions :baby:


I'll be multi-tasking and monitoring the 145.230 repeater as well as 147.420 at the hamfest. I no longer have any frequency agile UHF HTs

Via other sources, Charles is now an affirmative with not a peep from Brad....... John will be coming along and Dale will be driving his truck as he plans on making some large purchases. Three seats full in the Trooper and one out of two taken in Dale's truck.
